Noisy thieves have targeted a Bromsgrove business GTAccess using an angle grinder to break in and steal a trailer

Brazen thieves used an angle grinder to dramatically break into Bromsgrove construction firm GTAccess before making off with a trailer. CCTV images show people in a Transit van and flat back lorry staking out the Worcestershire premises in Sherwood Road at 11.23pm on Sunday (August 8) before returning hours later at 4.15am to break their way through the metal gates.

Residents in nearby Newton Road, or across Aston Fields and Breme Park in general, are being urged to come forward to West Mercia Police if they spotted anything suspicious on Sunday evening or the early hours of Monday (August 9).

“We have never had anything like this, not for a long time. Years ago we had theft of batteries from the machines, but not trailers locked in yards.

Said Jo Till from GTAccess said thieves stole a trailer worth around £3,000 that had been made to specifically suit the firm’s work hiring out access platforms to companies. It is the UK’s largest independent powered access company.

“They climbed over the fence at around 11.30pm when they scoped the area, had a good look around the trailer and then left. They came back at 4.30am.

“Thieves angle grinded the lock off, which sounds loud so maybe residents in nearby Newton Road heard something.

“There is not only the cost of a theft like this but also the total inconvenience to our business. The trailer will take 12 months to replace because of the specifications.”

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “Police in Bromsgrove are currently investigating the theft of an Ifor Williams plant trailer from GT Access Ltd in the Sherwood Road area. The theft is believed to have occurred at around 4am on Sunday 8 August.

“No suspects have currently been identified however officers are keen to identify a dark coloured Land Rover which is believed to have been in the area at the time.”
